Measure Pool for a Pool Cover

I often get asked how to measure your pool for a swimming pool cover or blanket so I thought I would post this to show you how to do it. It’s really simple and will only take you a few minutes to do.

Before you start, you’ll need a tape measure. It’s also easier if you have an assistant to help you.

Step 1

To measure your swimming pool, simply measure the widest and longest edges.

For shaped pools, treat as rectangular

Step 2

Add 15cm to both measurements to obtain the minimum swimming pool cover size needed.
e.g. If your measurements were 10×5.5m. Then you need a swimming pool cover that is at least 10.15×5.65m in size.

Step 3

Select the appropriate swimming pool cover size. Don’t worry if the cover you choose is too big. It is designed to be cut to size using household scissors when you install it. It is better to have a swimming pool blanket that is big rather then too small.
