Purchased this because I had to clean a toilet that grew armor plated rust and mineral deposits in the bowl. These were thick deposits that were resistant to even the oxalic acid based abrasive cleansers , which i purchased from Amazon before trying this stuff.
NOTE: USE SAFETY equipment - gloves and goggles are a must. It is still acid. While i didn't change the dilution ratio (1:4), i found that the recommended waiting time was too short, especially because the watery acid immediately flows off anything but a flat surface. Solved that problem by putting thin cloth (think t-shirt rags) on the stain and then soaking the cloth to hold the liquid in place. Did that repeatedly over time to keep it from drying out. Beginning in about one-half hour, I was able to scrape and lift off the deposits. In the bottom of the bowl, where the acid sat on top of the stain, the deposit dissolved after two hours. I couldn't feel any difference in the smoothness of the porcelain, but only a magnifying glass could tell if there was etching and I wasn't putting my head inside the bowl. So, it's more placid that aggressive, but that's what keeps it from melting your hand. Does it work? Your results may vary, but It's now part of my last resort cleaning arsenal.
